Goodbye 2014, Hello 2015! ♥

I can't believe I'm actually writing this. It seems like it was only a little while ago that it was January, now it's here again. 2014 was a great year for me so I'm not sure if 2015 can top it for me, but lets hope it can.

lots of exciting things happened to me in 2014 but here is just a few of them.

  • I started a new career within IT. I ended up being a lot better at it than i ever thought and ended up loving my job and the opportunities it gives me.
  • I celebrated the end of my teens.
  • I went on the holiday of my dreams and visited Los Angeles with my boyfriend. I saw the Hollywood sign and walked down the Sunset strip.
  • I got to visit Universal Studios.
  • I went to Warped Tour in the desert and watched 3 of my favourite bands ever.
  • I got to go Access All Areas to Sonisphere Festival and see my close friends band play a packed out stage.
  • I lost over 2 stone by eating healthier and starting to exercise.
  • I celebrated my 3 year anniversary with my other half with our closest friends at a theme park.
  • I went to a lot of gigs, from small pubs to packed out arenas.

Now, for the inevitable 'New Years Resolutions'. I don't normally have these but for once, i thought i would.

  1. Give up smoking.
  2. Be consistent with my blog and grow it as much as i can.
  3. Travel more.
  4. Go to as many gigs as i can.
  5. Go to at least one festival in the summer.
  6. Get down to my goal weight.
  7. Join the gym and start playing sports.

Happy New Year!

2014 Beauty Favourites! ♥

I love writing favourites posts almost as much as i love reading them. I find them much more helpful than reviews when it comes to seeing if I'd like to try a product or not. Last year, i did a yearly favourites (which you can read here) so i thought I'd do another one this year.

Favourite Skincare

This was probably the hardest category for me, as I've tried so much new skincare this year and I'm always changing up my skincare routine. But i did have a couple of products which really stood out for me like the Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask. My skin is very dry - especially this time of year - and can use all the help and hydration possible. I apply this all over my face around once a week and i was surprised by how quickly it sunk into the skin rather than leaving my face feeling sticky. Another product I've been using a lot recently from Origins is the Origins Super spot Remover Blemish Treatment. I don't have 'problem' skin but i do get spots like any other person. I always apply a little of this directly onto any blemishes and it not only helps to soothe them but also visibly reduces the redness. Last but not least is my favourite go-to everyday moisturiser which is the Olay Beauty Fluid Nourishing day Fluid. I find this has the best balance between keeping my skin soft and moisturised without taking a long time to sink into my skin.

Favourite Make Up

Again, this was quite hard to choose but for me, my ultimate foundation choice this year has been the Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Foundation 'Light Beige'. The medium coverage is perfect for everyday but can be built up if you have any blemishes or problem areas. Another favourite, which was a recent find, is the Tarte Amazonian Clay Full coverage Concealer 'Fair'. This certainly is full coverage and i use this on everything from dark circles to blemishes. It's a very fair shade which makes it perfect for use under the eyes. I love a good contour and highlight so I've been using my MAC Mineralize Skin Finish 'Soft and Gentle' very often. it gives off a gorgeous golden sheen on the skin that can look quite natural if applied with a light hand. For blush, my favourite look is a soft and natural one so I've chosen the Bourjois Little Pot Blush 'Rose Frisson' which is a gorgeous dusty rose pink with a little shimmer. It stays on easily all day and always looks natural.

For me, my all time favourite palette this year has got to be the theBalm Nude Tude Eyeshadow palette. It's got such a lovely mix of shades and finishes that it's so easy to create multiple looks from. MakeUp Revolution as a brand may have only started this year but two of their products still made their way into my 2014 favourites. The MakeUp Revolution Focus & Fix Eyebrow Shaping Kit 'Light Medium' is the first ever brow kit I've ever used. The top right colour is the perfect match for my brows and it's so easy to use. This has been helping me define my brows and I've had compliments whenever i use this. I love a bold lip and red is my go to for a bold lip which is why i chose the MakeUp Revolution Lipstick 'Atomic Red' as a favourite. it's such a gorgeous true, bright red that really does pop on the lips. It's probably the brightest red in my collection. For contouring, I've been loving the The Body Shop Honey Bronzer which has been perfect for that and also as an all over bronzer. The colour is perfect for us pale girls to contour with without looking muddy.

So, these are my 2014 beauty favourites, what were yours? Tell me in the comments!

Beauty Haul! ♥

Hi everyone! I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas! I had a very busy one but as always it consisted of a lot of food, a lot of wine and family time. Christmas Day is also my other half's birthday so i get to spoil him extra rotten!

I went out shopping a couple of days after Christmas to grab myself some beauty bits I've had my eye on for a while. I couldn't really find many good beauty sales but i did get one or two bargains!

First i grabbed the Indeed Laboratories The Ultimate Hydration Trio (£39.99) which I've had my eye on forever. so many bloggers swear by Hydraluron for their dry skin so i need to see if this is worth the hype or not!

I also picked up the Real Techniques Limited edition Nic's Picks Brush Set (£29.99) because they're just so gorgeous! I'm always in need of more brushes and i love the regular Real Techniques brushes!

I also grabbed a Real Techniques Powder brush as i seem to lose brushes! Max Factor had an offer on where if you bought £15 worth of their make up, you received a free gift. So, i picked up two of the Max Factor Colour Correctors in 'Corrects Redness' and 'Corrects Dark Spots' (£8.99 each). I have trouble with dark under eye circles and redness on my cheeks so hopefully this will help counter act that! I also picked up a couple of back ups, like my current go to foundation - the Maybelline SuperStay Better skin Foundation and the Seventeen Phwoar Paint Concealer.

Max Factors Free gift was a little make up kit with a lipstick, nail polish, eyeshadow and mascara in. I've not tried any of these before so I'm looking forward to trying these.

Last but not least, i picked up some new Barry M polishes to add to my collection. I've been needing a new base coat/top coat for a while so i grabbed one of those! I also picked up one of the Gelly hi Shine polishes in 'Lychee'.

Hope you had a lovely Christmas!

Make Up Revolution All About Pink Blush Palette! ♥

Here i am again, with another review of every bbloggers favourite budget brand - MakeUp Revolution. They seem to constantly be coming out with awesome new releases and when i saw this pop through my letter box i got very excited and could hardly wait to take photos so i could swatch this palette!

MakeUp Revolution All about Pink Blush Palette* (£6 MakeUp Rev) is a great little bargain. For only £6, you get 6 full size pink shades and a large mirror. Like all MakeUp Revolution products i've tried, the quality is so high especially when you look at the price tag. In the palette you get a mixture of shades, you get a peachy pink, hot pink, barbie pink and a pinky coral as well as two highlight shades.

The highlight shades were really hard to take a photo of but in natural light, they both look very subtle and natural on the skin but give you a lovely glow.

These powders last well on the skin - around 6/7 hours of wear time before they start to fade. They're all fairly pigmented but easy to build up to achieve the desired colour. This would be a perfect little stocking filler for a beauty lover!

Have you tried this product? What did you think? Tell me in the comments!

Lots of love,

Birchbox December Box! ♥

December is one of my favourite months for trying new beauty products - especially as everything is Christmas themed. A few years ago, i tried a subscription box but cancelled after only two boxes because i was bored by the amount of perfume samples i was receiving. A few months back, i decided to try again and a new brand. So i signed up to receive a Birchbox once a month.

We all know how Beauty Boxes work. You pay £12.95 a month and you get samples of high end or luxury products sent to your door once a month. It's not always sample sizes - you can get full size products too. So, this is what i got this month!

First up is the Ilsci Organics Gel Mask Grape Stem (£39.95 full size). I always love a good face mask to give my skin some added TLC. This mask claims to smooth and rejuvenate the skin and is apparently all natural, can't wait to try this out!
Electric hair Hydrate Shampoo (£17.50 Full size). I dye my hair a lot which has led to it feeling quite dry so anything that promises to hydrate my hair is a good idea for me. I haven't heard of this brand before so will see how this goes!
Eyeko Fat Eye Stick in 'Smoke' (£8 Full Size). This is the first of the 'full size' products in this month's box. I've only tried a couple of Eyeko products and i love dark smokey eyes so this product will be getting a lot of use from me!
Benefit High Beam (£19.50 full size). I LOVE High Beam so i was really happy to get this in my box. It's my favourite liquid highlighter and it lasts for ages so this little bottle will last me a while.
Models Own Velvet Goth Nail Polish in 'Amethyst' (£5 Full Size). This is the second full size product. I have another colour from this collection and it's gorgeous. It's matte but sparkly which is a huge plus. Only problem is removing this can be a major pain in the bum...
Trilogy Certified Rosehip Oil (£16.50 Full Size). I've never tried using Rosehip oil before but i know a lot of people swear by it. I get a couple of dry areas, especially around my shoulders that could use some extra nourishment.

This months 'lifestyle' gift is a Sophia Webster Purse which is leopard print and stripes. It's cute and I'll probably keep this in my handbag for my small change but it's a nice touch.

I've loved this months Birchbox!

What did you get this month? Tell me in the comments!
Lots of love,

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water! ♥

Finally, i can post again! November was a really hard month for me - i had a lot of personal issues, stress from work and I've had bronchitis all at once. Not fun! But, I'm back and I'm going to try and be better when it comes to blogging because I've missed it a lot!

While having a browse in Boots for some Christmas gifts i ended up treating myself to a couple of new beauty bits. does this happen to anyone else or just me? I've ran out of my Vichy Purete Thermale Micellar Solution* recently and have been looking for a more budget friendly alternative. I love using Micellar solutions as i have sensitive skin that is really easily inflamed.

I've been using the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water (£4.99 400ml Boots) recently. it's very budget friendly at just £4.99 for 400ml or '200 uses' according to Garnier. Since i found micellar solutions, I'll never use a face wipe again. The Garnier Cleansing Water easily removes all my face make up with one cotton pad and then i use another for my eyes and lips. I've yet to have any problem removing even my more stubborn waterproof eyeliners, mascara's or lip stains.

It doesn't have any perfumes so thankfully it's very gentle on my sensitive skin. While I've been ill I've been having trouble with my skin acting up and this definitely helped to soothe my sore dry patches of skin rather than make it even more dry like some products can. If you suffer from dry or sensitive skin or just want a product that removes your make up quickly and efficiently - you need to try this!

Have you tried this product? Tell me what you think in the comments!

Lots of love,

MakeUp Revolution Matte The One Blush Sticks! ♥

If you haven't seen the MakeUp Revolution The One Blush sticks - where have you been recently?! I've seen so many reviews of these and they are all over Instagram and Twitter. I'm so glad MakeUp Revolution are getting the recognition they deserve as in the last six months, they've brought out so many affordable products where the quality is beyond that of high street. Its hard to believe how 'young' the company really is, as they're a blogger staple!

I posted the other day about the non-matte The One Blush Sticks here and today's post is all about the Matte shades. I like the fact that they are the same 4 shades just with a matte finish instead. I mean, sometimes you fancy a matte cheek and others you don't! I will admit right now 'Matte Rush' is probably my favourite shade - it's so bright and looks gorgeous on the skin.

MakeUp Revolution The One Blush Sticks (£5*) are brilliant. Normally, i'm quite wary of cream blushers as i can never seem to get them to work for me. I've been applying these with a stippling brush and layering to get the desired colour on my cheeks. These can be worn either sheerly or more pigmented depending on how heavy handed you are applying this. They feel very creamy on the skin and take a bit of time to stipple in to blend them but they desired look is very flattering. I've found these have lasted longer than any of my powder blushes so far - easily standing the test of all day at work then straight out after work with no touching up at all. Matte Rush is probably my favourite with Dream coming a close second. At only £5, they're extremely affordable too like all MakeUp Revolution products.

October 2014 Favourites! ♥

Is it seriously November already? I like November. I mean, it's Movember and who doesn't appreciate a good moustache/beard? It's also sweater weather and people start to get excited for Christmas now Halloween has been and gone. From now on, every shop you go into will be blasting Christmas songs...

October was a busy month for me and i have definitely had some stand up beauty products this month. I've been quite stressed out recently with work and my skin has suffered because of it. I've been reaching for concealer a lot this month to cover up my break outs and I've ended up loving the Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Concealer (£). I didn't even know we could get Tarte here in the UK but i discovered QVC has recently launched the brand. Of course i made a cheeky purchase. I've heard quite a few guru's talk about the Amazonian Clay line - so i thought i should give it a try! The concealer is creamy and easy to blend. It works so well over break outs - and is very full coverage! I don't use full coverage concealers often but I've really enjoyed using this.

Another face product I've been loving this month is the Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Foundation (£) this has been my go to base for a few months now. It's a great medium coverage foundation from the high street. It doesn't feel heavy on my face but makes my skin looks flawless but natural.  It lasts well throughout the day and i will be picking another bottle of this up when this one is finished!

The last piece of make up I've been reaching for over and over again this month is the Wet n Wild ColorIcon Trio "Walking on Eggshells' (£). This again I've been using almost every day for either a wash of colour on the lid or a more 'done up' look. The eyeshadows are soft, pigmented and long wearing. I find them very easily to use as they blend easily too. I really want to buy a few more of these trio's and quad's from Wet n Wild.

As the weather has turned colder, my already dry skin has been in need of more pick me up's than usual. Once or twice a week, I've been using The Body Shop Vitamin E Sink In Moisture Mask (£) before i go to bed. After using this my skin is always soft, hydrated and firmer. It helps keep my skin from becoming flakey too!

What have you been loving this month? Tell me in the comments!

Birchbox October 2014! ♥

Hi guys, it's been a while! My terrible internet has been down again but i think i might have fixed it this time *fingers crossed*. a few years ago, i had a GlossyBox subscription but only had it for a few months before i cancelled it. The idea is great - 5 deluxe samples sent to you every month but in the end i had so many perfume samples i just didn't know what to do with them!

Recently, i decided to give subscription beauty boxes another go, but this time use the much raved about 'BirchBox'. My first box was October 2014 - and i was seriously impressed. All of the products i received were generous sizes, products i would use and have been wanting to try out. The first product i saw in the box is the Benefit It's Potent! eye cream (£ full size) which i admit, i was delighted to receive this. Loads of people rave about benefit skincare and I've yet to try any yet! Next up was the KMS California Hair Play Spray I'm always on the look out for more hair products - especially as i'm going to start trying new styles more often. I also received the BalanceMe Cleanse and Smooth Face Balm which I've tried before - and loved it. i especially love how you fill in a profile and receive products catered to that. This balm is for dry and sensitive skin so will be perfect for me.

I also got a full size of the Pixi Shea Butter lip balm in 'Ripe Raspberry'. I love lip balms - especially tinted and the colour looks lovely for A/W, I can't wait to start using this! Last but not least, i got a sample of the The Cool Fix Targeted Gel Lotion which is for shaving bumps or redness which is always a helpful product to try out!

My lifestyle gift was a cute little Lipstick pen - so I'll be making all my notes with that from now on!

What did you receive this month? Tell me in the comments!

Make Up Revolution Atomic Lipstick Collection! ♥

Once again, the lovely guys over at Make Up Revolution have released yet another lovely collection. Just in time too. Halloween is just around the corner and with this release and the Give Them Nightmares eyeshadow palette being released recently too, MakeUp Revolution have given me some inspiration for this halloween.

Now, as you've probably guessed, i have more than a slight soft spot for bright and bold lipsticks. MakeUp Revolution's Atomic lipstick collection also their brightest and most intense red lipstick yet. It's hard to believe MakeUp Revolution have only been around for six months or so!

The Atomic lipstick collection has five shades: 'Atomic Ruby' intense red, 'Make me Magnificent' shimmery purple, 'Make it Right' a deep purple, 'Serpent' a jade green and 'Make me Tonight' a deep brown.

My favourite shades are Atomic Ruby (obviously) and Make me Magnificent. The lipsticks have the same formula as all of their £1 lipsticks - creamy, pigmented and moisturising. I found using these the best way of getting the perfect lip was to apply a layer, blot with a tissue to remove any excess then to apply another layer. I haven't had a problem with these smudging although I've used Atomic Ruby a lot more than the others. I'll definitely be using these lipsticks in some way or another in a Halloween look when i decide what i'm doing for Halloween and what i'm dressing up as. These lasts a few hours though when they start to fade, it's obvious as they are quite bright! At only £1 these are great quality at such an affordable price.

I can't wait for Halloween now!

Natural Collection Blushed Cheeks 'Pink Cloud' ♥

I can't be the only one guilty of always buying the same brands every time i'm in a shop. I'm starting to become a bit bored of all the same brands and i've tried most of their products so i think it's time i start looking at the brands i've been overlooking.

Natural Collection is a brand i used for years, when i first started getting into make up as it was so affordable. Natural Collection Blushed Cheeks 'Pink Cloud'* (£1.99) is one of the first Natural Collection products i tried again recently.

I like all natural brands, you know no nasty chemicals are doing any damage to your face and you know what is actually in that product that you are applying directly to your face. We all know i'm a bit of a blush hoarder - i'm obsessed with blush i'll admit it. the Blushed Cheeks in 'Pink Cloud' has been a product i've enjoyed using. it's a bright pink in the pan, but translates onto the skin with a lovely sheer and natural finish. It's matte too which adds to the natural looking effect. The product wears well through out the day - though i have had to touch this up once or twice since i started using this.

I'm definitely going to be trying out more Natural Collection products now!

Soap & Glory Scrub Your Nose in it! ♥

Yes, this is another Soap & Glory skincare post. I reviewed the Peaches and Clean cleanser here earlier this week. On the same shopping trip, i also grabbed this product. Soap & Glory are easily one of my favourite high street brands as their products are high quality, affordable and the packaging/names are brilliant.

Soap & Glory Scrub Your Nose In it (£) is a product i picked up to use as an everyday face scrub. Something gentle enough to use everyday to keep any dead skin at bay.

I always use this on a freshly cleansed face and after i've used a face wash. This feels quite cool and tingly on the skin - and you can feel the tiny beads buffing away all the dead skin cells from your face. I always seem to have the most around my nose and chin, so i always make sure to give those areas extra attention. It's easy to wash off and doesn't leave any nasty feeling on my skin nor does it aggravate my sensitive skin.

I don't have too much of a problem with my pores, but every so often i do have a problem with them being blocked up. Using this everyday helps to maintain healthy pores - especially on my nose.

LUSH Oatifix Mask ♥

Like most other beauty bloggers, i rushed out recently to stock up on some of the new Lush products. While i was in the shop i also treated myself to some skincare, bath bombs and lots more too. Lush is a shop i love - the smell draws me in. The shop is so bright and full of colour too.

I picked up the Lush Oatifix Mask (£6.50 75g) on that shopping trip. It's definitely Autumn/Winter now and with the weather being a lot colder, my dry skin needs all the tender loving care possible. The Oatifix mask, like all LUSH products, is filled with lovely fresh and natural ingredients. Oatifix contains oatmeal, ground almonds and banana. It doesn't look like your average face mask but it works brilliantly on my skin.

Lush says:

"This gentle, nourishing mask is made with fresh bananas and illipe butter to moisturise dry skin. oatmeal, ground almonds and kaolin work together in a mildly exfoliating base to eradicate dead skin, leaving you soft, supple and moisturised."

Anyone with dry skin knows how annoying it is to constant have dry or even sometimes flakey skin. My skin is also quite sensitive so i have to be careful about what brands i use on my face. I always put a generous amount of Oatifix all over my face and leave it to soak in for at least ten minutes before rinsing it off. Once it's been washed off, my skin feels smoother, more hydrated and healthier. The build up of dead skin can make your skin look very dull and once you remove this mask, your skin doesn't look dull. Oatifix is gentle on my skin and smells lovely (like oatmeal). The Oatmeal has an anti-inflammatory effect too on the skin so any sore spots feel a lot better after using this.

I always rotate between a few face masks with every use but this is one i'll definitely keep in my collection as i've enjoyed using this so much!

Soap & Glory Peaches and Clean Cleanser! ♥

I ran out of my cleanser recently and made the mad rush to Boots to grab another. As always, i was drawn to the Soap&Glory section of the shop because i can't resist the funny names and bright packaging. I ended up buying the Peaches and Clean cleanser which i've used a few times before and liked.

Soap and Glory Peaches and Clean Deep Purifying Cleanser (£8). I've used this before as i've had this in christmas gifts before and i've always enjoyed using it but keep forgetting to repurchasing this in full size! For me, cleansers have to be gentle on my sensitive skin, remove all make up and leave my skin feel soft and clean.

Peaches and Clean does easily remove my make up every evening. I always use a pump full applied straight onto dry skin and rub it in. i always massage my eyelids to remove any mascara, eyeliner and eyeshadow too. I always use a muslin cloth to remove if i can, but it works well to just rinse off with warm water.  It leaves my skin feeling very soft and smooth but is gentle on my overly sensitive skin too. It smells amazing like all Soap&Glory products do, like peaches and cream (if you couldn't guess from the name!). It removes my base make up easily though waterproof mascaras can be a little harder to remove and sometimes require another cleanse.

Rimmel Provocalips in Kiss Me You Fool! ♥

I'm always excited for a new make up release. Especially if it's a brand i love, like Rimmel. The latest release has been a line of intense lip products called the 'Provocalips' similar to their Apocalips. The only difference is these come with a colour on one end and a 'lock and shine' on the other. I picked up two shades of the Provocalips as i love wearing dramatic lip colours and the claim that these last 16 hours was too tempting.

The first colour i picked up was the Rimmel Provocalips 'Kiss me you Fool' (£6.99). Kiss me you Fool is a bright fire engine red, not for the faint hearted. The colour is super pigmented and comes out opaque straight away with just the one coat on the lips. After you've applied the colour, you're supposed to let it dry then apply the lock and shine. The only problem i have with products like this is that inevitably, the white doe foot applicator on the lock & shine end - ends up whatever lip colour you're wearing.

Rimmel claim this is kiss proof, food proof and transfer proof. Once I've applied i can kiss, slurp, eat and god knows what else and this doesn't budge whatsoever. It doesn't transfer onto my clothes or around my mouth either. I apply this around 7:30am and let me tell you, i had to remove this before i did my evening workout at 6pm. Whenever i wear this, people comment on how bright it is and how long wearing. I'm not sure about 16 hours as I've never felt the need to have make up on for that long but the provocalips easily have 10 hours wear in them.

Benefit Rockateur Blush ♥

In case you hadn't noticed, I'm a big fan of Benefit. Their packaging is adorable and the products are such high quality. I've got quite a few of the boxed blushes and i recently added a new addition to my collection. Benefit's Rockateur has had my name on it for ages!

Benefit boxed blushes are normally £23.50 for 8g but Rockateur is £23.50 for 5g. I'm not overly fussed about this though - as i find it hard to use up blushes! For me a perfect blush has to be long wearing, pigmented and of course a flattering colour.

Rockateur is a gorgeous shimmery rose gold colour. I know some people aren't fond on shimmery blushes but i love them. Like all Benefit blushes, Rockateur is soft, pigmented and easy to apply. I don't normally use the brushes these come with unless I'm travelling and want to save space. This blush lasts a good 7 hours for me before needing a touch up. Whenever i wear this i always get complimented on how 'healthy' and 'glowing' i look! If you like rose gold - you need this blush! With this product, you only need to use a little bit as a little goes a long way. Since party season is coming up, I'm glad i picked this up!

The packaging is pretty like all benefit products. Rockateur being marketed as a 'provocative' colour is decorated with snakeskin and lacy suspenders!

MakeUp Revolution Give Them Nightmares....♥

I can't believe it's October already! You know what that means? Halloween, Scary movies and sweets. I love Halloween much more than any other 'holiday' because i love dressing up and well, who doesn't love having loads of sweets? The lovely people at MakeUp Revolution have released a new palette recently that is perfect for Halloween.

The MakeUp Revolution Salvation Palette in 'Give them Nightmares' (£6* MakeUp Rev Store) has 18 shades, 12 shimmer and 6 matte. I love the fact they've included matte and shimmer finishes. All of the names are little homages to scary movies like "Friday 13th", "Elm St" and "who's there?". Looking through the shades, it would be very easy to create multiple dark or smokey looks with this palette. A couple of my favourite shades are 'Beyond the Night' (shimmery black), 'Elm St' (Matte moss green) and 'Depravity' (matte bright purple).

L to R: Who's There?, Danger Coming, Lethal, Pretty Zombie, Bump in the Night and Poisonous.
L to R: Lawless, The Hunger, I Am Watching You, Beyond The Night, Wicked and Friday 13th
L to R: White Noise, Elm St, Ash, Boo, Depravity and Darkness.
Just like all other MakeUp Revolution products i've tried, i was really impressed with the quality of the eyeshadows. The packaging says 'Super pigmented' and yes, these are. some of the shades are so bright too so a light hand and lots of blending is needed!

I haven't decided what i'm dressing up as for Halloween yet or if i'm even doing anything, but this palette will be helping me get ready!

Have you tried this palette? What did you think? Tell me in the comments!

No7 Make Up Brush Cleanser! ♥

One of my most hated tasks is cleaning my make up brushes. I try to do it once a week but i find it so boring. I don't know how people will hundreds of brushes do it! Recently i picked up the No7 Make Up Brush Cleanser (£8 185ml) to spot clean my brushes. I always do an intensive clean but because i only own a few brushes, i need to be able to clean them while i'm doing my make up.

For spot cleaning my brushes, i've been using my ELF Brush Cleaner. I only have a small amount of make up brushes and only one of some kinds so if i'm layering another product or colour, i need a clean brush. I grabbed this when Boots were having a 3 for 2 offer on all make up brushes and tools as i'd just run out of my ELF one.

I've found this really easy to use. I just put one pump onto the make up brush and rub the brush in circular motions onto a tissue. I keep doing this until no more colour or product comes off the brush. This has a really clean scent - chemically clean. it's not unpleasant as it means i know my brushes are clean. I use this on brushes with synthetic and natural hairs and it works well with both. For a quick fix, it's great at getting rid of the building up make up and colours on your brush. It's obviously only meant to be used for when you don't have the time to do an intensive, deep clean but this gets rid of most of it.

I will repurchase this when i eventually run out as it does the job. It's not too expensive at £8 and it really seems to be lasting a while.

What do you use to clean your brushes? Tell me in the comments!

How to Fight Spots with Origins!♥

We all get spots, lets not beat around the bush. I wouldn't say i have particularly bad skin but i do get spots every so often especially around certain times of the month. Spots are the bane of my existence.

Recently, i went on a little spend at my local Origins counter. I've been trying to expand my skincare routine to fit more than just my dry skin worries. Besides dry skin, the occasional spot and discolouration are my main skin woes. I bought two products that have helped my skin a lot.

The Origins Out of Trouble 10 Minute Mask (£23 100ml Debenhams) is actually for oily skin. I only get spots in the areas of my face that ever get oily and oil on the skin causes you to break out. This takes off all the dead skin cells off my face and leaving behind soft, clean and clearer looking skin. It also makes my skin look a lot brighter too and dries out any spots i have on my face. I use a face mask once a week (or more depending how good my skin is) and alternate between a few depending on what my skin is like that week. I've also been using the Origins Super Spot Remover (£15 10ml Debenhams) on any spots i have. I dab a little bit onto the area before i go to bed and when i wake up, the blemish has always reduced in size and looks a lot less angry and red. It has loads of lovely ingredients like Red Algae and Salicylic acid, which is a great spot remover. This tingles when you apply it for a few minutes but doesn't hurt like some can do.

Maybelline Colorsensational Elixir! ♥

Like every blogger, i get way too excited about brands i love releasing new products. I've been using Maybelline for years and years. They recently launched a new line of lip products called the Elixir Lips. I love the lip 'lacquer' kind of product as some lipsticks can be kind of dry on me and the staying power is normally brilliant.

I bought two shades of the Maybelline Colorsensational Elixir (£6.99 each Boots) 'Signature Scarlet' and 'Blush Essence'.  As the name suggests, 'Signature Scarlet' is a bright scarlet red and 'Blush Essence' is a gorgeous medium pink. The packaging of these products is really lovely - they're sturdy but pretty.

Maybelline claims:

"Maybe gleaming colour can feel as good as it looks. New Maybelline Elixir, with its moisturising formula and velvety wand, cushions lips in lustrous colour that’s soft not sticky. Our 1st colour hit with the addictive feel you’ll crave."

Personally, I'd say these are on the sticky side. Not unbearably sticky but as they don't seem to 'set' they seem to get smudged really easily. As for the colour, i was expecting really rich and pigmented colours as the name 'colorsensational' would imply. Sadly, i found these started out quite pigmented but the more you applied the more it sheered out. It makes the red a lot more wearable for girls who aren't 100% comfortable with wearing bright colours but i was expecting more. They do have a really nice scent though, which I've noticed all Maybelline products have. The claim that this is moisturising is pushing it - it doesn't dry out my lips but it doesn't help add any moisture at all from what I've seen.

If you prefer more muted colours this would definitely be for you!

Have you tried this product? What did you think? Tell me in the comments!
