March Beauty Favourites ♥

I say this every month - but is it really the end of March already? I've had a really busy month and it's truly flown by. I've had a hard month with my skin - I've had breakouts then i got a cold and ended up with the inevitable dry skin around my nose. Add in a few weekends away and I'm exhausted.

My first favourite is a new purchase and it's the Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Foundation. It's the first time I've tried it and I'm really impressed. The coverage is medium but easily build able without looking cakey. It doesn't feel heavy on my skin like some high coverage foundations do and lasts all night. Big thumbs up from me! Another 'base' favourite is the Rimmel Fix & Perfect Primer. I've been 'shopping my stash' again and this is one of the products i picked out to try and get myself to use again. It creates a really even base and helps with the longevity of my make up without feeling like I'm wearing too much make up. I've almost used this up and I'll probably end up repurchasing this!

I've been loving the Urban Decay Naked 2 Basics Palette this month because I've had a lot of weekends away where I've needed to pack make up that can go from day to night easily. This has been with me to Brighton and Southampton this month. The colours are lovely, the pigmentation is great and like all Urban Decay palettes the quality is great. For lips, I've been loving my nude lips this month. I've been using the GOSH Lipstick in 'Darling' which is the most gorgeous shade. Its a great everyday colour and great paired with a dramatic eye look.

My last 'make up' favourite is the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara which is easily my new favourite mascara. It easily curls my lashes, makes them a very dark black and makes them longer as well as volumised. Last but not least is the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion which I've been using for a while. It helps soothe any dry or inflamed skin as well as adding some much needed moisture. it doesn't irritate my dry skin and helps keep my face looking and feeling soft.

Current Beauty Empties ♥

Over the past couple of weeks I've been hoarding all of my empty beauty containers to write this post. I have to admit, my family and other half have been a bit confused by this. I didn't include every thing i have finished as having countless shower gels, deodorants and such would mean I'd have millions of empty bottles to photograph and talk about! So, i tried to keep it to a minimum!

I'm always trying new things but i do have a few products i keep going back to - which i always repurchase.

Skincare
Soap & Glory Peaches and Clean Cleanser - I've used this before as i always get it in sets at Christmas. It works well to take most of my make up off and it smells lovely. It's gentle on my sensitive skin and is a really good price. Repurchase? Most likely.
Boots Botanics All Bright Purifying Face Scrub - I really loved using this! It worked really well especially around my nose where the worst of my dry skin is. It made my skin look much less dull. Repurchase? Yes!
Origins Out of Trouble Mask - Very thick mask that helps with any break outs. Works pretty well but there are cheaper alternatives. Repurchase? No.

Haircare
Provoke Touch of Silver Brightening Shampoo - Love this. Since being blonde I've used this twice a week to keep brassy tones at bay. Works well and smells lovely. Repurchase? Already have!
Mark Hill MiracOILicious 2 Minute Intensive Treatment - I got this as part of a set for Christmas and loved it. It smells lovely and leaves my hair feeling so silky soft. I haven't seen the full size in any shops though! Repurchase? Yes.
Mark Hill MiracOILicious Nourishing Conditioner - Just like the treatment, i loved using this. Smells gorgeous, keeps my hair feeling lovely and soft. Also helps keep it looking shiny. Repurchase? Yes!

Bodycare
Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Body Scrub - This is my 'go-to' body scrub as i love anything Lime scented! I always use this as part of my fake tan routine. Repurchase? Yes.
Cocoa Brown 1 Hour Tan - Have tried this a few times now. Works well enough and easy to use. For the price, it's really good. Repurchase? Yes.

Soap & Glory Arch de Triumph ♥

I love the brand Soap & Glory. They make such amazing bath products, great skincare and also great make up too. I've tried a few of their make up items but I'm trying to branch out and try more from different brands right now. So, based on a lot of people raving about this product to me and my own curiosity i went out and bought the....

Soap & Glory Arch De Triumph Eyebrow Shaper and Highlighter (£9 Boots). Its only available in the one shade - Taupe/Buff. I'd heard a lot of great things about these kinds of products and i was really looking forward to the highlighting end especially. For me, the highlighter stole the show. The shaper end doesn't get anywhere near as much use. The highlighter (Buff) has a lovely creamy texture which is really easy to blend along the brow bone with your finger. it has a really lovely almost pearl-like finish which looks lovely on the skin but not too obvious either. I only apply a small line of this before blending up to my brows.

The shaper end is pretty good, it's easy to use and the nib is small enough to emulate hairs easily enough. This looks natural enough - i normally use this after a brow powder just to keep the shape especially around the arch. The colour is okay for me, maybe a little too dark so i have to use a very light hand. I will definitely using this a lot as I'm so impressed with the highlighter.

Benefit Lollibalm ♥

When it comes to Benefit, i have pretty much all of their boxed powders. So when i was at my local counter a few weeks ago wanting to treat myself, i was on a mission to try something new - a product of theirs I'd never tried. In the end, i decided on the Benefit Lollibalm (£14.50 Boots).

Benefit claim that the Lollibalm gives you the 'softest, flirtiest lips'. I've tried a lot of lip balms over the years - i obsessively re apply my lip balm often all day as i hate having dry lips and exfoliate my lips often. I like taking care of my lips as having your lips in better condition means other lip products will look better.

I can't say i was particularly impressed with the Lollibalm. I didn't find it very hydrating and it had a slight sticky feeling to it which isn't really ideal in the windy weather. The colour is a lovely 'candy-orchid' but it's very sheer. I wasn't expecting full on colour but maybe a little bit less sheer for the price tag. For me, i prefer the Maybelline Babylips which are a fraction of the price. The scent is strong - which i liked but i know it's not everyone's cup of tea. I'll use this but i doubt I'll repurchase. This is the first Benefit product I've tried that i haven't got along with. I know a lot of other people have loved these balms but sadly they haven't worked for me!

Revlon PhotoReady Powder ♥

Whilst browsing Boots a few weeks ago knowing i needed a new powder i thought I'd go for something different. Normally i stick to my Rimmel Stay Matte and i swear by it - but i wanted to see what else was on offer. I ended up picking up the Revlon PhotoReady Powder in Fair/Light (£11.29 Boots). I've used a lot of Revlon products over the years so i knew what kind of quality to expect.

Considering i have dry skin one of my main concerns with powders is looking too matte. What i want from a powder is to set my make up for the day and to add a little extra coverage where needed. As my skin is dry, i don't have a problem with needing to touch up throughout the day thankfully. First of all, i found the shade to be a great match. Sometimes it can be hard to find pale foundations or powders on the high street but Revlon have definitely stood out with their shade selection. I'd say the coverage is very light but it does have great setting powder.

I have learnt to use a light hand while applying this as it does have the tendency to make my face look too matte. Revlon is one of the more expensive brands on the high street but I'd say the quality is great. It's not my favourite powder ever but it works well enough for me and is great for day to day use.

Kadria Balancing Face Oil♥

Recently I've been trying to add to my skincare routine to find the perfect combination for my skin. The cold weather has wreaked havoc on my skin with it being extra dry, flakey and I've even had a few break outs recently. When i was offered to try the Kadria Balancing Face Oil with Chia and Blackseed* (£36) i jumped at the chance.

This face oil was formulated for pregnant ladies suffering from hormonal break outs and a lot of people have said it's helped clear out any hormonal skin problems. I know I'm not the only one who's skin does get a lot worse a certain week of every month. I suffer from breakouts (which i normally don't) and sometimes even oily patches. I've been using the face oil for a few weeks now and I've enjoyed it. The smell is lovely and natural. It doesn't leave my skin feeling all sticky like some oils can - it sinks in rather quickly. I wouldn't say this completely got rid of my hormonal break outs but it definitely helped them disappear quicker and reduced the redness significantly. I can see why pregnant ladies love this - I've been told their skin can go a bit crazy in that time.

My dry patches, especially on my cheeks, looked a lot healthier than they have in a while and thankfully, this didn't make any oily patches oilier. £36 is on the more expensive end but it works for me!

Boots Haul ♥

I know, I know! Another haul! What can i say? I really needed to treat myself after a hard February! I went into Boots to repurchase some must have staples and ended up walking out over £100 lighter. Oops! I've had some of these products on my wish list for a while so it's very justified, at least in my eyes.

I immediately ran to the aisle where they keep the make up brushes - to grab some of the new Real Techniques brushes. I ended up grabbing the Real Techniques Bold Metals 300 Tapered Blush Brush and the Real Techniques Bold Metals 100 Arched Powder. I had originally wanted to get the contour brush too - but sadly it was out of stock!

I also popped to the Benefit stand. I've been um-ing and ah-ing about trying their foundation for a while. I know some people love it and others didn't get along with it at all but I've been told it gives great coverage which is always a massive bonus for me. So i grabbed the Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Foundation in Ivory. I also picked up one of the new balms on the recommendation of one of the girls, the one i picked was the Benefit LolliBalm. My other 'big' purchase was the St Tropez Self Tan Express as I've yet to try any St Tropez products and don't fancy using the normal variety and ruining my white bedsheets. I know a lot of people swear by St Tropez so I'm hoping this will live up to the hype!

I also needed to pick up a new powder so i ended up buying the Revlon Photoready Powder in Fair/Light. I like the foundation so thought i would see if the powder is good too. I'm hoping it adds a little extra coverage in the areas i need it and controls any shine too. I've also had my eye on the Soap & Glory Arch De Triumph Crayon as i love the look of the 'highlight' end. I've been taking much better care of my eyebrows recently and I've heard so many people raving about this!

Lush Haul ♥

A few weeks ago when i was paid i immediately rushed out to the nearest shopping centre to treat myself to a few new things. Lush is one of my favourite stores out there and i couldn't walk past without going in and i couldn't go in without buying myself a couple of things either....

I ended up leaving the store with 3 products. The first is the Lush Love Lettuce Fresh Face Mask. I've tried a couple of the Lush face masks and have really enjoyed using them. The fact that this one claims to help give your skin a healthy, radiant glow is the main reason i chose this as my skin can look quite dull. I also picked up the Lush Dark Angels Cleanser as it looked so cool. I've heard great things about charcoal cleansers and i always need a little more help with exfoliating as my dry skin can get quite flaky. Last but not least, i repurchased an old favourite which is the Lush BubbleGum Lip Scrub which I've raved about before. I use lip scrubs really often and I've found this is one of my favourites for buffing away any dead skin to make my lips softer and make my lipsticks look better too.

I also have a few empty face mask pots I'm saving up to claim a free Fresh Face mask!

Make Up Revolution Iconic Pro 1 Palette ♥

Once again, Make Up Revolution are the talk of the blogosphere with their brand new releases the Iconic Pro Palettes. They're so widely talked about as these are meant to be the best dupes for the Lorac Pro palettes at a fraction of the price at only £6.99. I was really excited to try out this new palette of theirs - as I've loved most of the products I've tried of theirs and i wanted to make sure this palette lived up to the big hype around it.
The Make Up Revolution Iconic Pro 1 Palette* (£6.99) contains 16 'super elite' eye shadows with half being a matte finish and the other half shimmer. The colours are quite diverse everything from a matte white to a shimmery gold to a shimmery purple. It's quite obviously a dupe for the coveted Lorac Pro palette. Personally, i haven't ever tried the Lorac Pro palettes so i can't comment on how the two palettes compare in quality.

I'm a bit obsessed with eyeshadow palettes as you probably could have guessed. Because the palette has such a wide mix of colours and finishes you can create a variety of looks with this one palette. As with all Make Up Revolution Palettes that I've tried the quality is top notch despite the low price tag. The pigmentation is good - the lighter colours take a little bit of building up compared to the darker colours though. The formula is lovely and soft and easy to blend. I don't wear eyeshadow primer day to day so the average wear time of these would be around 4-6 hours before they start to fade but with a primer it easily lasts 7+ hours.

My favourite colours are 'Dawn', 'Enigma', 'Stage' and 'Player' and i can see myself using them a lot!

Lush Ro's Argan Body Conditioner ♥

Yep, you read that right. Body Conditioner. LUSH is one of my favourite shops on the high street - their products are heavenly, it smells lovely in there and if I'm buying stuff from there it means I'm treating myself to some much needed TLC. I have extremely dry skin so I'm constantly trying out new products to help keep my skin silky soft and hydrated. But the idea of a body conditioner is slightly weird to me - even if it does work.

I got the Lush Ro's Argan Body Conditioner in a set for Christmas and I've just used it up. I've been using this once or twice a week depending on the condition of my skin. I use a tiny pea sized amount and rub into wet skin and leave for a minute before rinsing off. I'm not going to lie, if you apply this you won't want to rinse it off as it's a very silky feeling cream. I know some people also use this as a body lotion for added hydration.
It smells really nice - softly of roses, not at all overpowering like some rose scented products can. With the weather having been so cold and windy recently my skin has been in need of some love. Leaving this on for only a minute before rinsing off leaves your skin feeling silky smooth and soft to the touch. I prefer to use this after shaving as it leaves your skin feeling amazing!

Maybelline Eye Studio Gel Eyeliner ♥

You know most of us went though that awkward 'emo' phase in our teens which included some fashion disasters? I did and one of the only pieces of make up I'd wear was eyeliner. Not applied well though - i have to add. So, after using eyeliner for years i always thought i was a kind of expert. I've always stuck to liquid or pencil as i always thought these were the easier. Gel eyeliner always seemed like it would be a lot of hassle so i never tried it until recently. I was pleasantly surprised to find that gel eyeliner wasn't difficult to apply.

Whilst browsing Boots i ended up adding the Maybelline Eye Studio Gel Eyeliner to my basket so i could finally try out gel eyeliner. I wear eyeliner most days - and i do love a bit of a cat flick too so i need my eyeliner to be easy to use and last all day.  Thankfully, this does last all day really well. The colour is a very, very dark black which doesn't fade throughout the day or smudge. I found it easy to apply - though i might end up buying my own brush to apply this with.

It was easy to apply and you only need a tiny little bit as the colour is so pigmented. You don't need a super steady hand unlike with liquid. I apply my make up at 7am and don't get home until about 6 or 7pm every night. This is always the best part of my make up come home time. I'm really pleased with this and haven't reached for any other eyeliners since i bought this!

Bodycare Loves ♥

It finally seems as if this awful weather is going away and i can almost feel Spring/Summer coming already. I'm looking forward to not wearing a million layers! In preparation, i've gone through my collection and found my go-to body care products at the moment to help get your body into Spring/Summer mode easily.

One of the steps is exfoliating. I always concentrate on my knees, elbows and shoulders the most as these are the area's most in need of buffing away any dead skin (especially if you're planning to use any fake tanning products). I normally rotate between a few but they're always Soap & Glory and i'm currently using the Scrub 'em and Leave 'em Body Buff which smells like perfume but helps keep dead skin at bay.

After bathing/showering, i always moisturise. I'm obsessive about it seriously - maybe because my skin is so prone to becoming dry but i've been looking for those holy grail body moisturisers for a while and i've found some great products. One of the body lotions i use is the The Body Shop Shea Body Butter which is a very thick formula that i normally use on my driest patches - like my shoulders, elbows and knee's. This is super hydrating and sinks in really quickly and makes your skin feel silky smooth.

For any 'problem' area's, my go to body lotion is the Palmers Cocoa Butter Firming Lotion. By problem, i mean any places that need firming or have stretch marks. This has really helped add some elasticity to my skin and help reduce the look of my stretch marks and make them more manageable. I always use this on the tops of my arms, my inner thighs and my belly.

For an all over moistuser, a new favourite is the Vaseline Spray & Go Moisturiser with Cocoa Butter which not only makes you smell like a giant chocolate bar but is so quick and easy to do. Rather than sitting around rubbing lotions into your skin a quick spray and you're done. It takes a whole 20 seconds for me to do my whole body and this sinks in so quickly - literally seconds - so no awkward sitting around butt naked waiting for it to sink into your skin. I've noticed a difference since using this as it leaves my skin feeling super soft and moisturised but not at all greasy. I will put up a full review of this soon as i think i'm in love!

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara ♥

I can be really picky when it comes to mascara's. I like lots of volume, length and no clumping. For high street, i always gravitate towards Maybelline and have done for years as personally, i feel they make the best mascara's at an affordable price. Maybelline have recently brought out a new Mascara - the Lash Sensational.

While browsing Boots recently i picked up the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara (£7.99). It's also the 'official Mascara of London fashion week' apparently. I have to admit, i am seriously impressed with this mascara. The brush curves which means its easy to get to those hard to get to inner corner lashes. The brush also has lots of different sized bristles which helps get to every layer of eyelashes you have and easily lengthen and add volume.
I'm also impressed by the colour - the black is a true black- very very dark and striking. The mascara also adds a nice curl to the lashes. Whenever i use this, my lashes look full of volume and really long and I've not noticed any flaking at all yet. I've really enjoyed using this and this has definitely taken over from Falsies as my all time favourite high street mascara!

For only £7.99 this mascara is super affordable too. I've not had any problems with removing this yet as i always soak a cotton pad in Micellar solution and hold it over my lashes for a few seconds before removing.

February 2015 Favourites ♥

Is it really March already? I say it every time but i swear the months fly by these days. It feels like the other day we were celebrating New Years Eve! But I'm happy it's going fast this year because I'm really not in the mood for anymore cold weather - i want Spring and Summer now please! Favourites posts are one of my favourites to read and i love writing them too - you know how much someone really likes a product if it's included in a favourites!

My first favourite product in February is the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water this is now my second or third bottle of this and i love using this. It's so affordable and effortlessly clears any make up off my face. I always double cleanse so i use this after a 'cream' cleanser in the shower to remove any stubborn make up like waterproof mascara and it always does the trick. I've also been loving the Benefit It's Potent Eye Cream which i got as a sample in my Birchbox a while back. I've found since using this the skin around my eyes is much firmer and more hydrated. I've also noticed it's helped with some of the lines i get at the edge of my eyes and it's helped to tone down the darkness of my eye bags too!

Now onto Make Up Favourites - I've included this before in favourites but i always end up going back to the Collection Lasting perfection Concealer. I've had some trouble this month with breakouts and this easily conceals them and dark circles too. For only £4.19 too it's a bargain and I'll repurchase this again and again and again! The only other make up favourite i have this month is the Benefit Rockateur Blush which I've been reaching for a lot this month. The colour is gorgeous on the skin and gives off a really healthy glow. Also, although the shimmer in this may put some people off, i like the shimmer as it highlights my cheekbones without looking like I'm wearing loads of make up. It stays on well throughout the day and I've been told how healthy my skin looks while wearing this.

My last favourite for this month is the TRESemme Glossing Spray which i picked up on a whim while in Super drug. My hair can get quite frizzy and who doesn't want their hair to look glossy? I've found that since I've been using this my hair has looked much healthier and had a lovely shine to it but it's also been much less frizzy - all those 'baby' hairs are much more manageable when I've used this. Thankfully, your hair looks shiny but not at all greasy which some products can do!
